About Me

Hello, I'm Ashley Gangadean She/Her and I am a licensed mental health counselor and a Washington State approved clinical supervisor in Seattle, WA. I am specialized in working with developmental trauma, complex trauma, generational/ancestral trauma, children of immigrants experience, family of origin issues, and identity development (LGBTQ+/racial identity). I take into consideration from a holistic perspective how my client’s individual experiences and life story are impacted by the systems we live in (often oppressive). We will work together collaboratively and through building our relationship, discover ways to unlock one’s resilience, strength, and innate abilities to heal and thrive in your life despite the wounds one carries.

As a mixed-race (South Asian and White) queer and gender fluid person, I deeply value the sacredness of identities and how they impact our lived experience in a world built to suppress the voices and lives of those most marginalized. I am here to help any and all people who are willing to look at how their privilege or lack thereof impacts themselves and those around them. I am here to assist those faced with oppression to empower their voice, find strength and resilience, and embracing rest as resistance.

I am also a human and find that bringing my humanness to the therapy room helps others embrace their own humanness. I use an approach that helps my clients to see that their value is inherent and not based in perfection and "success". I want clients to see and feel the depth of their value by having a space that allows them to experience and embrace themselves in new and authentic ways.  I think laughter and humor is an incredible tool for healing and when humor organically enters our space, I welcome and encourage us to share in laughter as part of therapy.

I work with all individuals of varying backgrounds, cultures, and ages, however, I have specialized experience working with the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.

I graduated with a B.A. in Humanities and Social Sciences and with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University.

In my personal life, I love exploring new nature-filled areas of Washington, trail and road running, drawing, creating music, and spending time with my loved ones.

“You don’t have to be healing everyday. You don’t have to be checking off goals everyday on a to do list. You don’t have to be hustling and ‘building’ everyday. You don’t have to push everyday. You have the right to just be. You were born to experience leisure, joy, and rest.”
